'Outrageously Me' and the Importance of Developing a Vision for Your Life

I have had a real journey to self-love and to true fulfillment in my life. I sure didn’t always love myself. In fact for a long long time, I felt I was never good enough. Not a good enough friend, sister, daughter, lover, mom, career woman, and just all around not a good enough person at my core.

I was participating in a workshop one day, on developing your VISION for your life. I had been considering what my vision was for quite some time so the workshop was rather timely. And you know when you have those moments when everything aligns, and it’s like BAM, this is it!!? Well this happened to me with my vision. It was like all of a sudden I knew what my vision was. It seemed a bit silly and I felt a little foolish sharing it with the group, yet it just felt so right. I didn’t know why this was my vision, just that it was.

From my pen to my pad, the words that would change my life, appeared.

“I am outrageously me!”

Nothing fancy. Nothing eloquent. Simply, "I am outrageously me!”

I’m sure there were many who thought I was a bit strange. Why didn’t my vision include saving the world or loving my family, or contributing to the betterment of everyone around me? It seemed a rather selfish vision in a way. Yet for me, it was the beginning of making choices that were truly in alignment with me, as I began using this as my mantra.

To be clear, I wasn’t living into this vision at the time. I was very much still living my life according to other’s expectations of me, and was still a bit mousey when it came to speaking my truth. And I’m convinced now, that is exactly why this vision dropped into my spirit. I was meant to become more fully me. I was meant to use my voice and speak my truth and live my life in a way that didn't conform to what others think.

How many of us live our lives according to what others want from us? Or according to our assumption of what others want us to do? Or how many of us don’t even realize what we want and most certainly don’t know who we truly are?

Life is a journey of discovery in many ways. Discovering who we are allows us to be of greater service to the world. Yes it may seem like a selfish journey at times, and I’m sure people along the way thought I was being very selfish. Yet I can assure you that I have more compassion and more love for others now that I am outrageously me! I have a greater capacity to be there for others, because I am outrageously me!

If you are currently finding yourself in a funk, living a lacklustre life, and often more concerned about what others think, than what you think, it may be time to use a mantra that you can live into. Feel free to borrow mine. I found it gave me courage when I needed it, just to speak the words in my mind or outloud.

Ask yourself,

“If I was being OUTRAGEOUSLY ME, what would I do in this situation?”

Allow your spirit to direct you to the best response for YOU!

Do you know what your vision for your life is? Allow yourself the journey of discovery of what that is for you.

Here’s to living from your truth and making choices that are in alignment with YOU!

To your most outrageous self!
